Snowy Hydro | Burrungubugge Intake Shaft

The Snowy Hydro Burrungubugge Intake Shaft is a critical structure in the Snowy Mountains Scheme. The Snowy Hydro Burrungubugge Intake Shaft was constructed by drill and blast through granite in order to siphon water from the Gungarlin and Burrungubugge Rivers into the Eucumbene-Snowy Tunnel, a 23.5-mile water diversion tunnel for the scheme. Scope of Works
Snowy Hydro Burrungubugge Intake Shaft: Designing, supplying, installing, commissioning and operating an Access System to enable the Repair Works to be undertaken. This includes:
  • A multiple level work stage and man cage, both of which are independently lowered/raised within the Shaft;
  • A winding system (including winches, headframe, ropes, sheaves and attachments);
  • An operator control room (including necessary controls, communication and safety system indicators);
  • Shaft doors and cage access platforms;
  • A catenary cable, winch, sheaves and a clamping system for support of services to the work stage
  • Taking over Management & Control of the fenced Construction Site only, including being “Principal Contractor” for the Repair Works and implementing the WHSMP.

Since 1996, Nick’s career to date has predominantly involved underground metalliferous mining.
His experience gained during this time has been from the ground up, having spent years working underground at the ‘coal face’ through to statutory and senior management positions on site and at corporate head offices. This has given Nick an in depth knowledge of all aspects associated with underground mining.

Tracey is a CPA qualified Accountant with over 22 years’ experience, 9 of which have been with RUC Mining Contractors as Financial Controller.  Prior to her tenure with RUC Mining, she worked in various industries including engineering and construction, property and telecommunications across Perth, Melbourne and London.  Tracey leads the Finance, Procurement, and supply chain functions, supporting internal and external stakeholders, while also managing company secretarial obligations for RUC Mining and its subsidiaries.
