PT Freeport Indonesia | The Big Gossan Mine

The Big Gossan mine is a tabular, near vertical ore body with approximate dimensions of 1,200 meters along strike and 800 meters down dip with varying thicknesses from 20 meters to 120 meters. More information here.

 

Scope of Works:

Turnkey contract to undertake full scope of operations for the Big Gossan Mine by means of mechanised longhole open stoping with paste fill;

  • All underground development including excavation of ore and waste headings for declines and inclines and the rehabilitation of existing areas, with over 20,000 metres of advance in three years, which is over 500 metres development advance per month.
  • Installation of all temporary and permanent ground support including cable bolts, resin bolts, split sets and mesh and shotcrete
  • All facets of production including drilling, production charging and blasting, raise drilling slots, and conventional and tele remote loading
  • Production drilling of approximately 350,000 metres of 89mm blast holes
  • Trucking of ore from ore pass chutes to the rock breakers
  • Placing of backfill paste into mined out stopes, including building barricades and installing pipework
  • All underground construction including that of ore pass grizzlies, truck loading chutes, and escapeways
  • Hoisting 7,000t of ore per day, this equates to 640,000 tonnes per quarter
  • All operations and maintenance of the Big Gossan shaft system
  • Provision of electrical, survey, engineering and maintenance services to support the operation

Since 1996, Nick’s career to date has predominantly involved underground metalliferous mining.
His experience gained during this time has been from the ground up, having spent years working underground at the ‘coal face’ through to statutory and senior management positions on site and at corporate head offices. This has given Nick an in depth knowledge of all aspects associated with underground mining.

Tracey is a CPA qualified Accountant with over 22 years’ experience, 9 of which have been with RUC Mining Contractors as Financial Controller.  Prior to her tenure with RUC Mining, she worked in various industries including engineering and construction, property and telecommunications across Perth, Melbourne and London.  Tracey leads the Finance, Procurement, and supply chain functions, supporting internal and external stakeholders, while also managing company secretarial obligations for RUC Mining and its subsidiaries.
