Blind Up Boring (Box Hole Boring)

Picture: Blind Up BoringIn this case the machine is placed at the bottom of the planned hole position and the cutting head drills upwards. Rock cuttings fall to the bottom of the hole where they are deflected into muck cars or an alternative mucking arrangement. This application is widely practiced in South African deep tabular orebody mines with hole lengths ranging from 30 to 90 metres under normal circumstances and up to 190 metres in special applications.
